Individual Project One Statement

Situation
Future scenario,
Through a group discussion and brainstorming, our group came out with scenario, which consider what happen in past, present and future. By looking at the war that been happen in world we suspect that will be a world war 3 in the future. And what will happen to our world?

Task
World in the future? what will happen in 2050?
The prediction of world war 3 is all of the countries will destroy, the government and economic are collapse. We suspect countries in the world are going to be one united nation. By looking at the present situation, we as an architect are trying to make some solution for the future, while the world have to adapt and respond with a rapid changes.

Action
The decline of resource and the increase of population might be the key issue for people in the future, how do they survive in this world. In order to survive we should living in the small self-sufficient community and each community specialized in one product or service with focussed on sharing, supply and knowledge.

Result
By looking at woodford festival, the cultural, activities and life style showing the understanding of connection, people and environment that can turn the temporary resident to self sufficient permanent resident. woodford is a good exemplar to create new self sufficient community, while people will learn how to share and connect. All the resource is there, what should we do is how to make it works. For instance, the centre of woodford is a community centre, which is the core of the community where people can interact with others. in my opinion the elderly should live near the community centre therefore they not inadequate experience of connectedness with community.

Learnt
There is a quote said that people who don’t have a shelter are houseless, not homeless. Homeless has nothing to do with lack of shelter, but they lack of connectedness and belonging to family or community. The homelessness is actually elderly people where their spouse has died and their children live far away. From this idea I should think how do we respond to fact that we should live in community. For the next project, I intend to further explore the potential of connection and community centre in architectural design approach.

WEEK 6 - FINAL PRESENTATION

WEEK 5 - project development 2

Architecture Possibility

As an architect we try to cover the for most important factor to our future community which is:
virtual education pod
integration of sophisticated public transport system
new and innovative way of food production
flexibility and adaptability shelter

My focus is to research of what is shelter, and architecture possibility of shelter.
what is shelter?

People who don't have shelter are houseless - not homeless! Homelessness has nothing to do with a lack of shelter.
Define Homeless: 'An inadequate experience of connectedness with family and or community,' (Dominic Mapstone).
Homelessness is about a lack of connectedness. Belonging somewhere is about belonging with other people. Like belonging to a family or local community.
The largest social demographic in first world countries that experiences homelessness are actually elderly people who are houseful. Quite often their spouse has died and their children live at a distance. They feel the same loneliness and abandonment as the person living on the street. Therefore, to achieve good living condition we should live in the community who have a strong sense of community and sharing, in this case architecture solution can be a good possibility to help improve the sense of community and sharing.

Architecture Possibility
Flexibility and adaptability
(Modified to suit changes in life style on a daily or longer-term basis)

Single apartment can be combined into a larger apartment to accommodate a growing family, while furniture can be folded to turn a living space into a bedroom

As the apartments are able to cater to the needs and desires of the varying occupants, at their various life stages, a more stable community can be achieved through this adaptable nature

Multi function
One space for different function

WEEK 5 - project development 1

People and life style

Envision of Sustainable World

the diagram above is our group discussion of what is future community and what factor will affect people and life style. our group was focus on virtual, economy, social, and environment

Envisage Woodford Community

Based on our pattern, we try to create a system of the community which is separate into several district.
The images below is the exemplar of Woodford, the centre of Woodford will be the community centre, and all of the district are connected with public transportation system

FINAL SCENARIO

based on our previous research of world war 1 and world war 2, there will be a world war 3. through a deep brain storming, our group believe that after the world war 3, our world will become one united world and "peace"
this issue became our starting point of our scenario, which is:

"currently we living in the world which is divided into 200 countries, and in the future we envisage that the world will become one united world"

in this scenario, we envisage a united world which is involves sharing, mutual understanding, self sufficient and culture merge.

The result of the world war 3 cause the earth will run out of resources, all the government and economic collapse. their will be no more countries and become one united world. People should start from small community in order to survive.

Basic need of self sufficient community:

our future vision:
self sustainable
renewable sources of energy
transport methods
the integration of social amenities
an on-going education sustainable identity

Woodford as the exemplar

its community is self sufficient on its own, and each community specialised in particular service or product.

no private car, everyone will rely on sophisticated public transport system
